Hey :)
Well, for me Xandros was the most stable and user friendly desktop linux. You know why? Because by default it had no obvious means to run Konsole. I mean, there're no links or shortcuts or something. And without console you can't break tweak your syste, wich works quite well out of the box. Though, i can't tell i'd love to move back to Xandros from my current Kubuntu 8.04
And in fact, it really depends on the DM you will chose (GNOME, KDE, Xfce and what not). Though, i'm sure you're absolutely have to visit array.org to get custom Linux kernel that was patched and optimized for EeePC. Also be sure to see through Hacks page - they're must have for anyone who switched to that kernel.
As for default Ubuntu kernel - it may lack the ethernet driver, wlan driver, has troubles with shutting down properly and boots much slower than that custom kernel.

thanks sir eduard, actually i have no problem so far with xandro except for "cut and paste" feature mostly use on MS-XP plus the "anti-virus" which am made to understand linux is virus free. i agree xandro boots fast.ahhh, maybe i just have to learn more about xandro. but what concerns me is the anti-virus which means my eeepc is not actually safe from viruses? a virus was detected and was removed, unfortunately i forgot the name of the virus... and anyway happened once only as i habitually run the anti-virus since i bought my eeepc last January this year... is kubuntu 8.04 better? ^_^

Hi all mates, I come from Italy and I have an Asus e³ 701. My distro is Ubuntu 8.04 and I edited it for be like a Mac, I use another composite manager 'cause compiz is very very very heavy. I think that I'll made a post with an How-to for specific e³ settings and theme.
