 menu list

by jtwadsworth on: Dec 24 2006

Score 50%

I still have color problems with the menu in some windows (terminal for instance) since the menu list background is grey and so is the text for the menu...too hard to see.

Same for me in LiNsta2 and LiNsta3. Otherwise I am in love with the theme. What am I doing wrong?

Thank-you!
This unlocks the best parts of the theme. The author should definately make note that this package needs to be installed for the theme to function correctly. All aside, this is an awesome piece of work. I hope you continue to update it.

 Toolbar colour

Nice theme :D

How do I change the background colour of the Toolbar? At the moment it's black - just like the background colour of the panel at the bottom of my screen. All my open windows (Terminal, File Manager, etc.) have this black. I would like to change the colour to something that fits in with my desktop background.

Can anyone please tell me how I can do this?

DUH! I extracted the tarball and read the rc and other text files.

For any other n00b (like me) what you need to do is untar the file, make any changes to the 'gtkrc' text file (viz. those at the very bottom of the file) and re-compress the file.

Then Control Center > Themes > Install Theme and navigate to the tarball you just created click on it and then click 'open' under Install Theme. This should then extract the tarball to /home/(user)/.themes/ where you can then modify the gtkrc file again (if you need to).

Thanks for this theme. It's excellent. Here's a few screenies of a few colour combinations: http://www.flickr.com/photos/90173917@N00/with/386903619/

Although it doesn't display, I also gimped the minimised window button in the bottom panel so that they 'shine/glow' purple when active as the current/packaged choice is only green or blue.

One error I get though (see the Terminal output in the above screenies): it seems as though the menubar-custom.rc file refers to menubar-black.svg in the Menu-Menubar directory but there is no .svg image only a .png image. This makes sizing the panel at anything other than 23 pixels or 48 pixels pretty lame.

Perhaps the devs can update this to include the .svg images?

Go to ~/.themes/LiNsta3/gtk-2.0/ and edit the file gtkrc.
The line you want to change is line 1825 (may change), but it looks like this:
class "GtkMenuBar*" style "menubar-silver"
Change silver (or black) to, for instance, vista. This worked for me on stuff like firefox, openoffice, gnome-terminal, xchat, etc.

 similar problem

by pwnedd on: Feb 19 2007

I'm having trouble too getting the menubar graphics to show up properly. For me, all of the menubars are black, and for some apps, like OO.org, the font is black too which is a pain to read. I tried changing the menubar color the gtkrc file several times, but no matter what color i chose, the images don't seem to load. i checked and the images are there, and they are accessible, so i'm out of ideas.

anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!
Keith

You can fix the white text you get in the controls in usual programs by code: "sudo aptitude pixbuf"

 Firefox dark text

 by Joe90 on: Mar 3 2007

This works well, and after installing the gtk2-engines-pixbuf nearly all my menu bars were legible - apart from in Firefox.

I have a black menu bar and very dark text (kind of the reverse of the white text problem!)

How do I fix this please?
