Description:

This is my first attempt of writing a nice background sound for Linux. The Gentle Theme consists of:

- 2 Startup Sounds (specialy 4 u a little bit longer ;-) )
- 2 Shutdown Sounds
- 5 Error Sounds
- 3 Mail Sounds

You`ll find both, short and long versions of the sounds as well.

Have Fun !

P.S.: I Love Kanotix.

Changelog:

** Version 1.00 **

My first ideas of a funky jazzy sound theme.

 I like it !

Hi !
I like the general feel of your sounds, funky and of course gentle. I love the shutdown_gentle_voice one. It's so smooth.
I appreciate that sounds are coming in several versions, this is great. However I find some of them too long. error(x).ogg and the shutdonw ones (my KDEbox is fast to shutdown and the sound gets cut in the middle of playing) for example.
Anyway it's great to have something new to hear on our desktops. Good soundshemes are rares around here ;)
Keep up the good work.

Hey Eriol! Thanx for your comments. Because it was a little bit of work to construct the startup- and shutdownsounds. Because it is handmade (voice, guitar, trumpet and the beat)
You told me, that your Computer is faster than sound... No Problem: You tell me the length (How many seconds) and I prepare you a special-eriol-shut-down-sound.
Give me a bus... see yeah soon..Alexander

these are not exactly what I would consider gentle sounds. they do sound nice though, the name is just a bit confusing, the theme does not offer what the name implies just my .50 pence

While Gentle isn't the word I'd use for some of the sounds... I think you've really got something with the Shutdown_Gentle_voice.ogg

While a bit long it's definatly got a sound all it's own and a whole set to go along with that would be awesome. :)

Do you use GNOME? Cause i use gnome and it says me the same thing... Please (FOR ALL THE SOUNDS MAKERS) POST YOUR SOUNDS IN WAV ... OR GIVE US A SOLUTION POR THIS.

Thank you.

Just do an
oggdec *.ogg
in the folder where you extracted the .ogg files and you have .wav files of them all :)

I love Shutdown_Gentle_voice.ogg and Shutdown_Gentle_Instrumental.ogg . They are smooth, jazzy, and don't make you jump out of your chair when they begin playing.

The other files....well, they aren't quite as smooth or gentle. BRAVO on these two files. They are by far my favorite system sounds.

 A little long

by bubotubor on: May 9 2007

I feel, like others have said, that these sounds are not gentle. But, on top of that, I feel they are a little long. I don't want to listen to a 3+ second sound when the system has an error, or a prompt, or anything really.

The sounds are good on their own, but it sounds more like something I'd use for a flash site than my computer.
