Description:

It's an Ambiance like Theme for Fluxbox, Icewm, Openbox, Lxde, Xfce, Gnome2/Mate & Gnome3 (Unity, Gnome-Shell, Gnome-Classic & Cinnamon). Gtk-3.16 and Cinnamon 2.8 compatible.

The objective is to have it working very well in all that environnements with a choice of 4 flavours.

NEW: Gnome-Classic session in Gnome-shell fully set (see below for instruction for the window-list extension customization)

INSTALLATION:
* open a Terminal in the folder where the file 136162-Crunchy-themes.tar.gz is
* and copy/paste this command line (Ubuntu like distros):
sudo tar -zxvf 136162-Crunchy-themes.tar.gz -C /usr/share

(or if you are in Debian)
su
password
tar -zxvf 136162-Crunchy-themes.tar.gz -C /usr/share

Customization of the window-list extension in Gnome-shell
As we can't theme it, we have to change the original files. So we have to make copies of them before making the customization. In a terminal:

su
password
cd /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/window-list@gnome-shell-extensions.gcampax.github.com
cp classic.css classic_Origin.css
cp stylesheet.css stylesheet_Origin.css

cp classic_Crunchy.css classic.css
cp stylesheet_Crunchy.css stylesheet.css

Setting the theme in Gnome
* Unity: you have to install and use Unity-tweak
* Gnome-Shell: Gnome-tweak (Advanced settings) must be used and the user theme plugin activated
* Cinnamon: in the control center / themes

Openbox rounded Buttons
If the display of the buttons is weird, just set the "active window title" font to the right size. Example : Ubuntu (regular) 11.

Gtk engines dependancy
Murrine & Unico are needed by the theme. To be sure they are installed:
sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-murrine gtk3-engines-unico

Hey it's cool to see you rolling your own theme I like your versions as well! :)

I'm Sorry I couldn't accept all of your patches or suggestions just yet. Some of the proposed changes I couldn't make yet to Ambiance and Radiance Colors because We are in middle of a redesign that effects the colors. And the main concern was to get a 12.04 version ported. now we are making it "perfect" hopefully :)

Once again great work! Thanks for sending your fixes and suggestions Awesome theme.

 Crunchy and xfce

I really enjoy this theme. I am using it on xfce and LXDE.

I made a change to the x - + buttons in the xfce version. They are now a muted red, yellow, and green respectively. I kept the Ambience button design, and just changed the hue and lightness of the buttons. I also kept the blacked out buttons on inactive windows.

Any update on this topic? I would love to see a version of this theme using red buttons/accents/hovers. Worst case scenario I can do the same thing this person has done by taking your theme and modifying it accordingly. Thanks for all your great work. It's definitely very nice!

I'm writing a new version where you'll be able to customize easyly your xfwm4 and metacity buttons from svg images.

Hope it will answer to your needs.

Not ready yet but I want to post it during this month (sept 2013).

Thanks for the quick reply. Shortly after my last post I stumbled upon a red icon pack (Humanity-Colors-Dark-Red). When I combine that with the gray version of your theme it looks really good.

 Crunchy and Mint Mate

I really love the theme but I'm having a small problem. If I use the mate-dictionary applet, the text in the text box isn't displayed. I'm using Mint 13 with Mate.

Am running the Cairo Dock with Composter turned on. As such, the window box top bar is transparent. Any fix?
