I will look into this , I am not sure about it. Have you seen any other GTK themes with this? I will see if it's possible.

Apparently it is difficult, but possible with this RGBA module:

I haven't found the time to try it.

 Toolbar bgcolor in Synaptic and GTK2 apps

 by sadi on: Apr 25 2014

Score 50%

I know this is due to the original Ambiance theme, but I think it would be great if you could also tweak and overcome this problem. Otherwise light monochrome icons on a silver toolbar bgcolor don't look nice in Synaptic Package Manager and some GTK2 apps like Chrome/Chromium, KKEdit, etc.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will see what can be done. Unfortunately doing that sometimes breaks other apps because gtk theming is very fickle. But I will look into that.

I understand that this might be a bit complicated. For instance, only some of the themes (i.e. Tribute variants) don't have this problem in the MediterraneanNight Series: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/MediterraneanNight+Series?content=156782)

If you are asking about the icon theme in the MediterraneanNight Series, it's Faenza I guess.

 No dark menus in ambiance gtk2

 by SzynaW on: Apr 26 2014

Nice themes! Only one suggestion: enable dark context menus for ambiance gtk2 themes. For now gtk3 apps have dark menus but gtk2 have white. Simple fix can be done in gtkrc, line 343:
style "menu" = "dark" {

And the good thing is that these themes works well in Debian with gtk 3.12 (most of existing themes have some bugs with this gtk version). But you must UNINSTALL gtk3-engines-unico. Because with this in gtk3.12 apps just crash. And without it everything still looks nice. You can even comment it in gtk-widgets.css, line 63. I only wonder what I lose by not using unico?

Thanks for the tip.
But I wonder why this trick doesn't work for toolbar.
style "menubar" = "dark" { => GOOD
style "menu" = "dark" { => GOOD
style "toolbar" = "dark" { => NO GOOD

Thank you for the info about Debian, I haven't been able to test in the newest Debian yet. I am not sure what one would lose with not haveing Unico. This new Ambnice and Radince uses quite a few PNG files now so it may not need Unico that much. Thank you for the suggestion on dark menus I am pretty sure I will be adding them back for 14.04.1 build of theme since so many people want them. I just need to test and make sure they don't break any other apps like, Eclipse, Firefox etc.

Thanks for your comment.

I really like that this is a just a small variation on Ambiance (and Radiance). The colors are well chosen and look great. I hope this remains nice and simple as is.

Thank you for the kind words :) that was the goal we had taken on so many changes and modifications in previous versions it was so hard to get things done. we decided to hit the reset button and start over and keep it simple and clean. The Only Thing I am investigating is adding a dark menu variant back and of course the color buttons and open-box theme and hoping that it won't complicate things to much.

 Proper theming missing on mintmenu

If I install your latest theme package version 14.04.2c-1 alongside MATE 1.8 and Mintmenu the Mintmenu just shows up unthemed in grey with grey letters (see screenshot).

http://i.imgur.com/WCWxBLm.png

This was present on either version 14.04 or 14.04.2 of your theme.

Thanks for the report. I think a config file for the MATE mint menu needs to be added. I am sorry we forgot about that one. We tested against Mate with stock menu but completely forgot the mint menu in GTK2 (GTK3 works). Hope to have that fixed soon. I will comment back with a link to a fix when I finish one.

 Title image not shown

I use fedora 20 with xfce, and the title images on xfwm4 not work with transparency. If I remove alpha channel from title-* images, all works.

Ideas?

Do you mean the window title bar images for XFCE on Fedora? Sounds like the alpha layer may be causing issues, Perhaps XFCE in Fedora was not compiled with that enabled or new builds don't use that hmmmm.

I am going to see what I can do. You said remvoing the alpha layer made it work? Does it look good when this is removed? Thanks for letting me know about this I am going to work on it.

Either way we have fixed it we just have to test and push the update 14.04.6 in a few. thanks for tips you gave they helped alot.
