 The Dark Color

I only wanna say, you do a great job :) I know it's very hard to maintain such a huge number of variants, though it seems to be easy. But you might want to correct the dark color. Because it is all orangish. Even in blue themes. You can have a look at my "Ambiance Blue" and it's shade of the dark color - http://satya164.deviantart.com/art/Ambiance-Blue-Theme-Suite-196833665

Hey Satya! Great to hear from you! As I said on Webupd8 your quite the themer! :) Thanks for the kind words and great feedback.

That's a good Idea. I to start have kept it simple. So I haven't changed that dark background color yet. (To clarify for any of those reading unaware what that is, It's the Panel background and dark toolbar background etc) I know it would look great but it's a little hard as we have 8 colors x2 I have to do it for. However I am going to get that done hopefully in the next version or two. (Thanks for reminding me.)

Oh I forgot. I was also considering perhaps making it a generic Black/Grey (No Colorized tints etc)

But I will have to see what looks best.

That would be easier to maintain and also won't look alien to the theme :)

 Gnome Shell Theme

The Gnome Shell theme included doesn't work perfectly with Gnome Shell 3.4 (authentication dialog for instance). The latest version of the Ambiance Blue Gnome Shell theme included in Ambiance Blue Theme Suite fully supports both Gnome Shell 3.4 and Gnome Shell 3.2 (not tested, but built that way it should work on 3.2). So you may want to re-base your shell theme on mine. I use "Meld" for comparison and merging and I think it will be useful to you as well.

I did port the shell theme to Gnome Shell 3.4 (Ubuntu 12.04) (From 3.2) but I may have missed a variable or two for the AuthBox and perhaps something else (I will double check).
Was there anything else I missed?

Your right! Meld is an awesome app. I used it to compare the 3.2 gnome-shell theme to the 3.4 :) I couldn't find any other Gnome 3.4 Shell themes at the time for reference besides the default one. So I tried to study the new widgets and variables and brought the new code over a few lines at a time keeping the look intact and theme stable. (I Fixed the Icon grids, Search, Highlight, Mouse Over Labels etc for Gnome 3.4) Thanks for reporting that issue I will have a look at your Gnome-Shell theme to see if I missed something on the Authbox. and anything else But other then that the Shell Themes seem to work on 12.04 from what I've tested so far.

But I will have a look again maybe I missed something I'm not a full time shell user. So maybe I don't know all it's functions yet (To test them).

Thanks for the great suggestions and feedback.

I've not checked if there are other errors too. But about authentication dialogs, in Gnome Shell 3.2, they were under the class

.polkit-dialog-password-entry

But in Gnome Shell 3.4, they have been changed to

.prompt-dialog-password-entry

In my theme, I've included

.polkit-dialog-password-entry,
.prompt-dialog-password-entry

so that they will support both Gnome Shell 3.2 and 3.4.

Thanks for all the feedback and help ! :)
I've merged that into the code. It will be out with the next release. Theres a lot of NEW stuff going into that release so it may be a little bit. (But not too long)

Thanks

Wow I don't know what happened, I didn't delete them :( I was responding to your comments. I got one reply done when then all of a sudden they stopped showing up (When I refreshed the page).

Gnome-look gave me an "Internal Exception Error" when trying to go back.

It may be something with the database.
Well I got the comments and replied to them but I guess my reply disappeared too.

Thanks for the report. It may be a missing argument in the config but I'm not 100% sure yet But I do want to get that fixed. (It works on debian and ubuntu so I'm not sure what I need to do yet But I will figure that out.) Can you try the "Classic-Green" variant and see if it does the same thing?

I'm not 100% sure what the situation is on arch. but it looks like you have all the desktop and theme engine packages installed correctly. But we do use a metacity-1 theme through compiz or threw mutter. I'm not sure if thats part of it.

at arch linux we use the default gnome 3.4.1 and gtk3.4.1, here is a list of times the engines

Name : gtk-engine-unico
Version : 1.0.2

Name : gtk-engine-murrine
Version : 0.98.2

Name : gtk-engine-pixbuf
Version : 0.1.0

with Cassic-Ambiance-Green it does not :/

Hmm that's interesting. That all looks right.

So Am I understanding you in that with "Classic Green" it works? or no it doesn't work?

If thats the case a fix should be very easy. It just a argument that needs to be added.

Whoa that's weird. The only thing I can see is that theme may use the 11.10 version of the metacity theme. Or perhaps theres a permission issue?

I'm gonna run a few tests on vanilla gnome 3.4. And hope to get it fixed soon.

Once again this baffling because it works on Ubuntu and Debian just fine.

Oh OK no worries, I gotcha now.
Well I'm gonna have to look deeper into that then. I hope to have a fix out by "12.04.1" It's weird because it works on Debian and Ubuntu.

I'm pretty sure most Gnome Installs still support metacity for there window themes right? so it should hopefully be easily fixable.

Thanks once again for fallowing up. So I can figure this out :)

Sorry for the confusion,
Don't worry. You do and will always have the newest build on the PPA (even before it hits this page most likely, becuase the packages are auto-built on the PPA servers). The "Updates" on this page lately (This Mouth) have been to download links and help documentation.

I wanted to make the help and downloads better and faster. for those not on the PPA.

I'm working on the 12.04.1 version at the moment. Despite it's version number it's a major upgrade bringing better colors and lots of goodies. I hope to get it done soon but it's alot of work. :)
