This is intentional. You can use a dark toolbar in Evolution if you want, but there will be issues with it.

In the directory you installed the theme (either "/usr/share/themes" or "~/.themes")

edit the file: A-New-Hope/gtk-2.0/Styles/toolbar-fix.rc

Comment out or delete the following line:
widget_class "EShellWindow.*Toolbar*" style "toolbar-fix"

Save the file and reload the theme.

Evolution will now use a dark toolbar. If you use Maverick, you will notice an ugly bug in the Evolution toolbar where the end of the toolbar is still the light colour. This is why I changed it to use a light toolbar. I'm not sure if it happens for everyone however.

"Fix" worked fine, I can not see any problems here in Evolution. However it would be nice if the text formatting bar could be gray in stead of black :)

Nice theme!

Cheers!

Really? You don't have this happen: http://ompldr.org/vNXk0dQ ???
If not, then I'm not sure what is wrong with my copy of Evolution. What distro/version are you on?

Thanks for pointing out the text formatting bar in the Compose window. I hadn't noticed that. Will work on a fix for that soonish.

I'm on Arch,

The gtk engines etc are probably newer than the ones in ubutu as well, just tell me which ones you want the version numbering on.

Also, a transparent menu bar like the one in "Elegant Gnome Pack" would be awesome on this theme!

 ARGH

Man I must be a complete tool but I can't install this theme and I want it bad.

Installing it through System > Appearances only gives me the controls, not the overall theme (I'm running a New Hope modified Ambiance theme as the closest I can get). Placing the folders in /usr/share/themes/ doesn't make any difference, still no overall theme. I have murrine engine and I can view the theme in Emerald Themer - but I can't actually persuade Ubuntu to wear it.

Anyone care to explain an idiot what he's doing wrong? :oS

This ^^^

And typing "emerald --replace" into the run dialog [Alt+F2] will reload Emerald decorations if Metacity is still being used.

FYI, happens on Illigance theme too. Probably an emerald issue with fancy title edges. Any workaround appreciated.

Illigance's author fixed this by padding the right side of title in "Title-bar Object Layout" setting. Here's a concrete example for Illigance. I padded with 10 using trial-and-error.

 focused/unfocused windows

Hi!

Thank you for this nice theme. I see there is no difference between focused and unfocused windows in metacity. Is it correct or I did something wrong?

The Metacity is very new and very much a work in progress. The Emerald themes are much more polished.

Please update emerald and gtk theme to the latest version from deviantart as these issues have been fixed (well I can't replicate them at least).

I look into the thunderbird issue

Thanks for your alacrity.

As you said I tried the latest version and my problems are solved now.

In case of Thunderbird, although the toolbar menu is colored different from other applications I can read the text entires; I think it's because some differences in rendering GUI between gtk applications and mozilla-family applications.

In gftp I found a similar problem of the text color in toolbar.

Check my new screenshot:

Thanks again for the beautiful theme.
