This is Compiz Profile. If you have downloaded the transparency.profile then only you have to do is import profile in preference section of ccsm i.e compizconfig setting manager as in screenshot. Trouble might be your browser opening the file in browser itself as text and unable to save as .profile format (With chrome it happens): use firefox and simply do save page as and save the file . Though my reply is late hope it helps. I will try to add another download link with readme...

hey man this is a nice thing to have, makes everything look very fancy. im sure windows people would be jealous. but how do i make the transparency of the browser go away because its kind of annoying when i want to watch a video and i see my background come through all the time.

There is a shortcut key to increase opacity of any windows in opacity section of ccsm I hope. So while watching you can use this two key combination. Or you can put browser or any reading app in exception section also. It has been long I used ccsn. Just explore it solution is always there in Linux.
