Description:

I've seeing that this theme has become it a very popular topic, so I decided to make some changes to improve it. I will appreciate any comments about this mouse theme.
I did it a lot of changes to improve it: please see them on Changelog section. It has new pointers and animations. I added some cursors symlinks needed to Steam, and all required for KDE and Gnome. I did it, for people who want to have the cursor always visible. Easy to see!

This X11 mouse theme has 48 pixels, and is flat: not degraded and no blurs. I have tested it in KDE with Kwin, Gnome 2.x, Gnome 3.x, Unity and it works great.

This theme has a lot modifications of DMZ theme. The modification idea is to put a yellow background to each DMZ cursors. You never will lose it sight. I changed the left_ptr_watch and watch cursor, and I added animations for them, you will can see, one of them, in the screenshot number two. Cursor is looking well in both dark and clear backgrounds. If you find any errors, please let me know in the comments section.

HOW TO INSTALL IT
  • 0- Download cursor pack

  • 1- Extract it as root to /usr/share/icons/, open a terminal as root and use next command:
    Quote:
    tar --directory=Downloads -zxf Downloads/157167-ycDMZ.tar.gz && mv Downloads/ycDMZ /usr/share/icons/

  • ON KDE
  • 2- Change cursor theme with desktop setting tools.

  • 3- If you want to make it the default cursor and see this cursor theme on login screen KDM, you must edit as root the index.theme system file located in /usr/share/icons/default. Use next command:
    Quote:
    nano /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme

and then change the name present after of "=", sign to ycDMZ

  • 4- Reboot.

  • ON GNOME or UNITY
  • 2- Choose the cursor theme ycDMZ. Use next command:
    Quote:
    sudo ln -fs /usr/share/icons/ycDMZ/cursor.theme /etc/alternatives/x-cursor-theme

  • 3- Select ycDMZ cursor theme with MyUnity, gnome-tweak-tool, ubuntu-tweak, or another Desktop Setting Tools.

  • 4- Reboot.

  • Download install and enjoy it! Thanks.

    Changelog:

  • 2013 Jul ver 0.5 I added some cursors symlinks needed to STEAM, and all required for KDE and GNOME.
Also I added animations on: corners, sides and double_arrow pointers.

  • 2013 Mar ver 0.3 I changed the full theme: was it 64 pixels, and now it's 48 pixels. it has new animations.

  • 2013 Feb ver 0.1 Initial release.

Definitely has potential. I think for me to use it I'd need the yellow to be lighter and brighter, as if it was yellow highlighter. Would it be possible to do a color pack for those who want a different color highlight?

     you look for colors

You are right. This background is not bright, but it is a medium yellow (#808000, notation HTML) and is an exact middle term between red and green. It also has included the alpha channel (transparency), about 78%, so it is not completely opaque.

I can do a package of this theme, with different background colors, just tell me the colors in HTML notation. In yellow I suggest the #ffff00. You can choose at this website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_colors. Thanks and I hope your answer.

It's so nice to have people like you in this website. Commenting is good for us all. I changed the preview number 2, so that people who use Gnome or Unity see there unlike pointers, with KDE. I like this idea, and it's carried out.
Thank Walenty friend, you are the image of people with constructive feedback that should be in this website.
