*.7z is a 7-zip archive. There's the Windows version of the extractor at http://www.7-zip.org/ or the *nix version with packages for several distributions at http://p7zip.sourceforge.net/

Additional information can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7-Zip

is it cool to put your submission in an archive format that a lot of people don't use? Kinda like a secret handshake or something?

Linux is all about freedom. Freedom of choice and speech.

7-Zip is an open source alternative to propriotry software such as rar and zip. We should support it's usage.

Not to mention in the post before yours someone has gone to the trouble of providing a Wikipedia link which explains how to use it.

So install 7-zip and turn that frown upsidedown ")

Most distributions have p7zip in their repo's. it its the POSIX version of 7zip.

It integrates with most archival programs

This is an extremely common format for compression, I don't know what you mea...

Oh...Your a WINDOWS User...well no wonder. Uncle billie didn't leave you anything but winzip under the tree this year?

LOL...just kidding dude. Believe it or not, I work with people that have never used MS Windows nor do they intend to. They cannot believe someone would actually pay for something that can be had for free...and perform without viruses as well...

Then there's the 3d desktop that Linux has had for years. Shame...I heard it didn't get included in this new Windows release either.

This sound theme doesn't conform to the Freedesktop.org sound naming conventions, nor is there a index.theme file. How do we go about installing it?
