Description:

2014 Dec 17- Thanks for the first ten thousand downloads !!

Maya Serie for Righties X11 mouse theme with available cursors size: 24, 32, 40, 48, 56 and 64 pixels. Available couple colours: Black (black pure, gray 6), Blue (accent blue, accent blue base), Green (accent green base, accent green shadow), Orange (orange base, orange shadow), Red (accent red base, accent deep red) and White ( white pure, grey 1). I am offering the full serie for right and left handed, with property multi sized and also as pack for those who don't like or have trouble for choose the cursor size with mouse themes multi sized.

The pointers were made with Inkscape. Cursors are look well in both, dark and clear backgrounds. I will appreciate any comments to improve this cursor theme.

It isn't completely flat, because the images has gradients; no blurs and no shadows. Works fine in Gnome and Unity, and I've added some symlinks to Steam, and everything needed for KDE with Kwin, Cinnamon, Pantheon, Xcfe.

I decided to upload it, and after i will improving it. I would like change a few things so you can expect updates. If you find any bugs, please let me know in comments section.
If you don't know how to install a mouse theme with multi sized property or to choose a cursor size, go to http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=164300, there you can see the instructions for Gnome2/3.x, Unity, KDE, Cinnamon, Pantheon and Xfce.

Thanks,
Marcus Haro.

Color options would be wonderful. If you could give me an idea of those colors I'd appreciate it.

    Marko,

Okay, whipped out gcolor2, a couple of my themes,
some screenshots of collected web items, buttons
    ect.

Here is a list of a few color combo's.
Some fill and outline may have to be switched,
to look right, or maybe, it might be easier to
    just colorize the whole pointer.

I noticed that the pointer, has some transparency
so it might be more apparent with some of the
    lighter colors.

    A green ?
    fill color = #798560
    outline color = #DAE6C3

    A red ?
    fill color = #AA1C1C
    outline color = #AD8C50

    A sun yellow ?
    fill color = #FFE888
    outline color = #6B635C

    A perriwinkle ?
    fill color = #B27CFF
    outline color = #7D7380

    A brown ?
    fill color = #4D4841
    outline color = #C5C5C5

    A sky blue ?
    fill color = #B0C4CD
    outline color = #4DC4FF

Tried to keep the saturation down in most of
the fill colors, but really have no idea, how
it would look as a pointer theme.

Anyway, I will leave that in your expert hands.

Again thanks for sharing this theme.

After reading your broad idea of colors for this theme, I have decided for now to build this pointer theme using the white color. I will order my ideas to choice the colors most used in these types of issues, as they are: green, orange and blue.
I appreciate your ideas of colors proposed by you, and the advice about the icons's transparencies.

If you wish to participate in the choice of colors, I will send you a link to download the icons's images, before building it. What do you think?

    Thank you,

There are applications that works only with the default cursor, as Chromium Web Browser and Google Chrome. If you don't make Maya-Orange as default cursor, you always will see the default cursor, and the cursor-size default.

In your case, it seems that your default cursor is DMZ-Black with 24 pixels as cursor size. You see the main cursor (the black arrow) , text cursor, grabbing cursor (closedhand) and hand2 cursor (pointing_hand).

What do you must do after select Maya-Orange cursor theme with tweak-tools, ubuntu-tweak, or another Desktop Settings Tool?

You must edit, as root, the index.theme system file located in /usr/share/icons/default, changing the name present after of "=", sign to theme's name.

    Use next command:
    sudo gedit /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme

Save, close and reboot. That's all.

    Thanks for comments, Marko Haro.

    Dear Jerry Frazee,
Look, I don't have found something to resolve the change of default cursor size in linux Mint. Are you working with Cinnamon Desktop Environment?

My recommendation is, for a while, that you download Maya-Orange as Package. If you like the cursor-size 40, by example, then install Maya-Orange40, and you never will have no problems with the default cursor size, because will be 40px.

    Here is the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hdanokeyekisuhs/Maya-OrangeP.tgz

When I find the way to do with mouse theme multi sized, I will tell you how to do it.

    Thanks,

You are using an X11 mouse theme, would not
it be better to control it using a X11 conf
file rather than using dconf setting?
So it seems Chrome is picking up your
default X11 mouse settings rather than your
    desktop settings through dconf.

    Hope this helps

I am using elementaryOS. What's the yours?

On the page description, I give a link for those who don't know how install a mouse theme with multisized property. That link is http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=164300

    Textually for gnome or Unity:
4- To update the cursor theme and cursor size: Search for and install Dconf Editor in Software Center.
5- Use next Command, changing theme's name and the current cursor size to your custom cursor size xx. Could also use 24, 32, 40, 48 or 56 pixels.

    gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface cursor-theme ThemeName && gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface cursor-size xx

If you wish choose the cursor theme and cursor size, using the Dconf editor graphic interface (GUI), then launch it, an go org-->gnome-->desktop-->interface.

6- Finally, create or edit the ~/.Xresources file using next command:
    gedit ~/.Xresources

Add the following two lines. Change ThemeName and xx to match size defined in previous step:
    Xcursor.theme: ThemeName
    Xcursor.size: xx

    7- Save, close and reboot.

If are using Cinnamon, on point 5 change gnome by cinnamon.

That works well for me under Pantheon Desktop Environment, but i don't know under Cinnamon: If anybody proof, I hope for reply.

    Thanks,
    Marko Haro.
